FAQ

What is a Tuttle Box? A Tuttle Box is an industry-standard foil mast connection system, originally designed by Larry Tuttle in the early 1980s. It provides a strong, stiff, reliable interface between a foil mast and a board, and remains the dominant standard for high performance kite foiling, wingfoiling, and windsurfing.

What is the Adjustable Tuttle Box? We designed the first commercially available Adjustable Tuttle Box. The Adjustable Tuttle offers 2" of fore-aft position adjustment in 1" increments using interchangeable shims, plus optional angle shims for rake adjustment. It's fully compatible with standard Tuttle masts and matches the strength and stiffness of a traditional fixed Tuttle Box.

What Tuttle Box thickness do I need? You want to buy a Tuttle Box that is thicker than your board. You will cut off the excess box thickness during installation. The 6" Tuttle Box is designed for wingfoil and parawing boards and works for 95% of boards. The 8" version is designed for thicker downwind SUP boards. When in doubt, buy taller than your board thickness — it can be trimmed for a perfect fit.

Which foil masts is the Adjustable Tuttle Box compatible with? Our boxes (Classic and Adjustable) have been tested with MikesLab, F4, Slingshot, Chewbanga, and Levitaz masts. Our Tuttle Boxes are compatible with any standard Tuttle mast.

Do I need any special tools to install a Tuttle Box? Yes — a drill guide is strongly recommended to ensure perfect hole alignment. The Adjustable Tuttle Drill Guide is available separately on Tuttlebox.com.

Can I retrofit a Track Board with a new Tuttle Box? Yes! Please refer to our Installation guide for specific details.

Where are your products made? All Tuttlebox products are made in the USA from aerospace and marine-grade materials.

Do you make custom Tuttle Boxes? Yes! Please reach out if you need custom specifications. We have done many custom projects that arent listed on the website yet.
